Road safety highlighted for TT
In a bid to make the roads of the Isle of Man even safer during the Centenary TT, the Island's Department of Transport has created a special film.
Thousands of race fans will travel to the Isle of Man for the two-week festival, which starts on May 26, to enjoy the on and off-track action and atmosphere.
The Department of Transport has worked with Manx firm Greenlight Television to produce a special short film to mark the Centenary. It contains lots of features, including a brief history of the TT, some fantastic race footage and vital road safety advice.
The Department is producing 20,000 DVDs for distribution, and they are being offered free of charge.
The DVD provides the perfect opportunity for visitors to experience the roads on the TT course before their arrival on the Island. The DVD can be posted to the UK and overseas and all residents offering home stay facilities can forward the names and addresses of their guests and the Department will post a copy directly to them.
Road Safety Manager Gordon Edwards said:
‘This year’s TT will be busier than ever and, because of this, the Department has decided to release this short DVD prior to the festival in the hope that the road safety message will reach as many people as possible.'
'The film takes viewers on a lap of the TT course, highlighting potential hazard areas for bikers, which will be extremely valuable when taking into account the extra traffic on the road this year.'
'I would urge all TT fans to take advantage of this offer and request their free copy today. ’
The message for visiting TT fans is clear from the title of the DVD – enjoy the spectacle and have fun, but remember to TAKE ITT EASY.
The DVD is available free of charge from www.gov.im/takeitteasy/ttdvd
