Biography

Cyril Scott was born in Sheffield in 1917 and originally apprenticed as a painter and decorator. He joined the Royal Navy in 1940 and served for the war years.

He Joined the Royal Navy again in 1951 to complete 22 years service, finally leaving as a Chief Petty Officer in 1966. On retiring from the Navy he became a publican and ran the ‘New Masons Arms’ in Mexborough, South Yorkshire for 20 years as landlord. He retired to Sleights, North Yorkshire in 1978 and sadly died in 2004.

Cyril was a motorcycle enthusiast from his early youth and took up Motorcycle Racing as a sporting pastime during his Navy years.

He raced the International and Manx Norton at fixtures in Scotland eventually entering the Isle of Man TT and Manx GP between the years 1951 - 1959.
