Biography

New Zealand rider, Paul Williams first rode in the Supersport 600 TT of 1994. Paul returned to the Mountain Course in 1996 to continue his learning curve on 250 and 125cc Honda machines finishing in both races. 1997 again saw him in action in the Formula 1 and Production Races. Paul came under the wing of John Shand in 1998, gaining a bronze replica in the Junior race and a silver replica in the Lightweight Race for 7th overall, but more importantly winning the 400cc class in a shortened rain sodden race at an average of 89.71 mph. 1999 started with a disappointing retirement in the F! race. In the Lightweight 400cc TT he proved his previous years class win was no fluke taking outright victory on the Shand Honda at 109.01 mph. Rides in the Junior and Senior races resulted in D.N.F.'s. Last year saw the man from Dunedin drafted into the Demon Vimto Honda squad, finishing in 21st place in the 250 and 18th in the 125 TT's. Paul has recently married Cherie and is currently working in Japan. Thanks to Charles Turner for his contribution to the above information.
